New English-language guides make Almere more accessible to international residents

Almere is an international city with over 25,000 residents from more than 150 countries. For many newcomers, the first few months are a period of discovery. How does the Dutch healthcare system work? Where do you register with the local council? And how do you choose the right school for your children?
To help internationals find their feet more quickly, BELONG NL, in collaboration with the International Almere Community, has developed two practical English-language guides.
Practical information all in one place
The first edition, *The Insider’s Guide to Almere*, brings together all the practical information new residents need. From opening a bank account and finding a GP to public transport, waste collection and places where you can easily meet new people.

A guide to the Dutch education system
The second guide, ‘Navigating Dutch Education’, helps international parents understand the Dutch education system. Among other things, the guide explains how primary and secondary education are structured, how the CITO test works and what parents can expect during parent-teacher meetings.
By bringing together practical information and relatable examples, the guides help new residents settle into Almere more quickly.
