Welcome to the page of the election Enterprise of the Year 2026-2027. We award this title to companies that are valuable to the city in any field. Whether through innovation, social commitment, growth, guts or cooperation: this election puts the spotlight on the entrepreneurship that moves our city forward. This year is an anniversary edition: the election is taking place for the 40th time, in the year in which Almere celebrates its 50th anniversary.
Election with 3 categories & Audience Award
Each year, awards are presented in three categories: Starter, Small Business and Medium-sized Business. In addition, there is the Audience Award. So there is always a category in which your company fits - or a company you think deserves this title. A professional jury evaluates all entries based on fixed criteria and selects three nominees per category. These companies are put in the spotlight towards the grand finale. The winners per category and the winner of the Audience Award, with the most votes, will be announced during the annual festive networking event for entrepreneurs on Friday 20 November 2026.

Participation puts your business in the spotlight: increased visibility, raising brand awareness and network, inspiring you and your team, participating is a huge experience for your business. Participation will put your company in the spotlight: you get increased visibility, increase brand awareness and network, and it is an inspiring experience for you and your team. Moreover, you will have a chance of winning a wonderful prize package including professional photos and videos of your company, a media package, workshops, membership of the Association of Business Circle Almere and, of course, being the face of Enterprise of the Year 2026-2027 for a year.

Charities also win
Each nominee chooses an Almerian charity. As much as half of the proceeds from ticket sales of the festive networking evening will go to these charities. In addition, each charity linked to the four award winners will receive an extra contribution of €500!
Anniversary overview - 40 years of winners
This pageant was founded in 1986 by the municipality of Almere and the Vereniging Bedrijfskring Almere (VBA). Whereas in the early years the VBA put forward the candidates, since 2006 a professional jury consisting of the alderman for Economic Affairs, the VBA chairman, representatives from the banking and financial business community and two entrepreneurs who had previously won the award in the category of Medium-sized Businesses has been used. Over the years, the award grew from one general award to several categories: Starter, Small Business, Middle Large Business and, since 2023-2024, also the Audience Award. This development reflects Almere's growth as an economic city and the diversity of businesses operating here.
