Nice to Meat is a catering butchery, offering meat and meat products to catering entrepreneurs nationwide. The company has 80 employees and serves the country from its location on Lagekant in Almere.
Nice to Meat was founded in 1894 and has been owned by the current director-owner, Mikel Pouw, since 1994. Pouw had the current premises built in 2013. Originally an Amsterdam-based company, Nice to Meat was chosen for this location on the Lagekant due to Almere's good location. Moreover, this location offers the opportunity for further growth and expansion, says Pouw. Also, many Nice to Meat employees live in Almere. For them, good accessibility is extremely important.

There is also a commercial reason behind this decision. Pouw explains that there are more meat-processing companies based in Almere that together strengthen the market.
More than 120 years ago, Nice to Meat started in Amsterdam as an artisanal butcher's shop. Thanks to quality and service, they were soon allowed to supply specialities to capital city hotels and restaurants. A traditional, artisanal approach, combined with efficient and punctual working methods ensured a steadily growing clientele in the 20th century.
Pouw comes from an Amsterdam butcher's family. For existing and new relations, this is a guarantee that the quality philosophy is upheld. The team of more than 80 employees works with great enthusiasm and commitment to serve domestic and foreign customers. Because that is their mission: to provide the right quality at the right time for the right price on a continuous basis.
