A company for the love of business

The story of Medex Instrument Service began in a barn at home in 1991. The company has since grown into a reliable partner for hospitals and medical device suppliers. throughout the Netherlands. And that did not go unnoticed: Medex won the title Enterprise of the Year 2024-2025 in the Small Business category.

The company also experienced difficult moments. In 2012, founder André Timmerman died suddenly. His wife Karin, daughter Lianda Mulder and employee Joost Scheefhals decided to continue together. "For the team and for the work we believe in," Lianda says.

Customisation at medical level

Medex specialises in designing, manufacturing and repairing medical instruments regardless of the brand. No matter which brand it is: at Medex everything revolves around customisation. For instance, they develop ergonomic solutions to reduce physical strain for caregivers, but also smart tools that give patients more control.

The lines of communication with healthcare are short. Doctors and specialists come with an issue - Medex realises it technically. "We make the impossible possible," says Lianda. That attitude paid off: in 2024, the company took over another party's operations, leading to substantial growth. Soon, they will move to larger premises in Almere Buiten.

Big impact in small format

Although Medex is a small-scale organisation, they have a big impact in the medical world. Their distinctive approach - personal, flexible and expert - makes them a much-loved player in the healthcare sector. For Lianda and the team, the title Enterprise of the Year feels like an endorsement of their unique approach.
