If you are one of the three nominees, we will contact you no later than Friday 28 August 2026. Below are the conditions for participation in each category so you can check where your company fits in. You will also find the registration forms here. It is also possible to nominate a company!

Starter
Whether you have launched an innovative product or a pioneering service, the title Entrepreneur of the Year 2026-2027 in the Starter category, appreciates your guts and dedication with which you have realised your entrepreneurial dream. Eligibility to participate:
- Maximum 3 years registered at the Almere Chamber of Commerce
- Up to 5 employees
- First venture (from the submitter)
The expert jury tests the nominees on: Growth Opportunities, Daring, Creativity, Special Approach.

Small business
Whether you run a growing business, have been deliberately doing small business for years or make an impact with a unique concept: the title Enterprise of the Year 2026-2027 in the Small Business category recognises your professionalism, vision and distinctive entrepreneurship. This recognition shows how powerful and innovative a small business can be. Conditions to enter:
- Almere companies with 2 to 20 employees
- And a maximum turnover of €5 million
The expert jury tests the nominees on: Distinctiveness, Above-local emanations working area, Sustainability, Social commitment and Innovation.

Mid-sized company
Whether you have scaled up your business to the next growth phase, made great strides in professionalisation, or have been building a beautiful and stable business for years with meaning for the city, your employees and the market: the title Entrepreneur of the Year 2026-2027 in the Medium-sized Business category appreciates your entrepreneurship, vision and the impact you create. The award is for:
- Almere companies with at least 20 employees and/or a turnover of more than EUR 5 million.
- The winner of this category is automatically nominated on behalf of the Municipality of Almere for the election of the Flevopenningen Foundation in the category Top Enterprise 2027.
The expert jury tests the nominees on: Distinctiveness, Upper-local emanations working area, National/international potential, Sustainability, Social commitment, Innovation

40 years Company of the Year election
For 40 years, we have been highlighting businesses that make a difference. A powerful moment to reflect on four decades of entrepreneurial Almere. Entrepreneurs play an indispensable role in this: they create employment, invest in talent, stimulate innovation and together build a strong and future-proof city.
During this anniversary edition, we are again looking for businesses that inspire, such as:
- Special or iconic Almere companies that have defined the face and character of the city for many years.
- Innovative and impactful businesses that are now making a notable step or making an important social contribution.
- Family businesses or enterprises with a unique story, closely linked to the history or future of Almere.
- Companies celebrating anniversaries themselves show their sustainability and continuity.
